Phil Neville picks his ultimate five-a-side team and he’s not having any of this all out attack nonsense

We wouldn't fancy lining up against this side

Phil Neville is tactically astute even when it comes to five-a-side.

We had the pleasure of speaking to the Manchester United and Everton legend this afternoon and asked him who he would select if he could only pick five players.

“In goal, I’d have Peter Schmeichel. I’d like to have a defender so would have to go for my brother, Gary, or else he’d disown me.

“I think I’d put Roy Keane in next to Gary. He’s my captain and somebody I’d want on my side if I was going to war.

“I would have Eric Cantona as our frontman for his flair and I’d have to give Giggsy a place considering he’s the best player that’s ever played for Man United.”

We absolutely love the fact that Neville didn’t take the Rooney/Carrick/Januzaj route of naming five all-out attackers.

Neville has future manager written all over him as he balances his side out nicely with goalscoring penache and rock solid defence.

And with Keane, Cantona and Schmeichel in the five, we don’t think there’d be too many over-the-top challenges.

Subs bench: Paul Scholes, Paul Gascoigne, David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Phil Neville was speaking to SportsJOE to promote Predikta, a new football prediction website which allows friends to interact with one another in a fun environment while sharing their picks for upcoming games.
