The battle of Beijing?
Ok, so it would just be a preseason game, taking place thousands of miles from Manchester, but the idea of Pep Guardiola beginning his Manchester City career facing old nemesis Jose Mourinho would really be something.
Manchester United this morning confirmed an eight-day trip to China this summer, as commercial realities once again overrule common sense when it comes to preseason preparations.
The club announced they will play two friendly matches while on tour, with a BBC reporter hinting that one of those will come against local rivals City.
Also expecting pre-season International Champions Cup plans for China to be announced later this week. Could be City v United.

With Louis van Gaal’s Old Trafford future very much in doubt and Jose Mourinho hotly tipped to take over, the prospect of renewing his bitter La Liga rivalry with Guardiola halfway around the world could make this a preseason game with an added layer of spice.
