Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has hit back at Sir Alex Ferguson after he was criticised in the former Manchester United manager’s new book.
Discussing Pogba’s move to Juventus – which now ranks as one of the worst mistakes in United’s history – Ferguson pinned the blame firmly on Raiola.
‘There are one or two football agents I simply do not like, and Mino Raiola, Paul Pogba’s agent is one of them. I distrusted him from the moment I met him,’ he writes in his new book, Leading.
‘We had Paul under a three-year contract, and it had a one-year renewal option which we were eager to sign.
‘Raiola suddenly appeared on the scene and our first meeting was a fiasco. He and I were like oil and water.’
Raiola has a different view on his client’s departure, however, which he shared on Wednesday…
One thing is for sure – United should still regret ever letting Pogba slip through their fingers.
