The Champions League final is narrative upon narrative and most of them have to do with a certain Luis Suarez.
The June 6 clash between Barcelona and Juventus will see the Uruguayan meet up with two of his former nemeses in Giorgio Chiellini and Patrice Evra.
Suarez was banned for four months after he sunk his teeth into the shoulder of Chiellini when Uruguay faced Italy in last summer’s World Cup so we’re sure the no-nonsense Juve defender will be chomping at the bit to be up against the striker.
During his time at Liverpool, Suarez was found guilty of racially abusing then Manchester United full back Patrice Evra and was slapped with an eight-game ban.
And after sealing qualification for the Champions League final last night, Juventus’ Evra has revealed that he will be respectful to the Uruguayan but that Suarez will be well aware of his presence on the pitch.
“A lot of people ask me this question. It doesn’t matter. The most important thing is I play the final, you know,” Evra said of the much-publicised reunion.
“I am proud to be what I am, I am proud about my colour and I will shake his hand, it is no problem,” Evra continued. “But I will make sure he will feel me on the pitch.”
We’ll be popping a tenner on both players to be booked.
