One word player ratings: Ander Herrera runs the show as Manchester United beat Aston Villa

Ander Herrera does it again.

The Manchester United midfielder continued his excellent recent form with two classy goals for Louis van Gaal’s side in this 3-1 win over Aston Villa, moving them temporarily past neighbours City.

United didn’t have as easy an afternoon as the score might suggest. Villa pulled a goal back through Christian Benteke – from a shot that David de Gea will be disappointed not to save – a minute or so after Wayne Rooney had doubled the home side’s lead, making for a nervy last 10 minutes.

However, Herrera wrapped up the points for United in stoppage time and a top four place looks more secure.
