Not too many Liverpool fans will be heartbroken to learn that Martin Skrtel is set for an Anfield exit but there’s no denying that he’s been a servant to the club.
Skrtel has made over 300 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2008 but looks to have played his last game for the Reds.
According to reports, the Slovakia international is not a part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans as the German looks to put together a squad more conducive to his style of football ahead of his first full season in English football.
The player’s agent has claimed that there are negotiations in place with Super Lig side Besiktas and that, although a deal isn’t close, Skrtel is almost certainly finished on Merseyside.
“Besiktas is one of those interested in Martin, but we haven’t reached a point where I can confirm Martin is going there, or anywhere else,” Skrtel’s agent Karol Csonto told TV Markiz in Slovakia.
“But I can say that it is 90% sure Martin will leave Liverpool, but it is far from closed.”
