Neymar puts an end to Manchester United rumours

Finally

Robert Redmond

It’s over.

Manchester United’s reported pursuit of Neymar has ended after the player unequivocally dismissed suggestions he’d be leaving Barcelona.

The Brazilian forward has been linked with a move to the Premier League side for the past few weeks. While most football fans dismissed the rumours, they continued to gather pace amid reports of Barca offering Neymar a new contract, and United’s executive vice chairman Ed Woodward arriving in Barcelona to broker a deal.

However, that can all be forgotten now as Neymar addressed the rumours personally last night, following Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Malaga, saying: “I know nothing of Manchester, I’m outside of all this and don’t listen to it.”FC Barcelona v Malaga CF - La Liga“I am happy in Barcelona and the fans of Barca can be calm.”

In fairness, Neymar, we doubt many Barca fans were ever too worried that you’d be playing for United this season, but it’s nice to be nice.

In completely unrelated news, Neymar is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Barcelona.
