Neymar and Donnarumma ‘separated after heated exchange’ following Real Madrid defeat

The pair were involved in a heated exchange.

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Neymar were reportedly separated in the Paris Saint-Germain changing rooms after their defeat against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Real Madrid beat PSG 3-2 on the night and came from two goals behind to advance to the quarter-finals. It was yet another almighty collapse for the Qatari-owned side.

Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for the French side, doubling their aggregate lead to two, however, a second-half hat-trick from Karim Benzema stunned Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

The result came after PSG dominated three quarters of the game only to leave empty-handed and questions being asked about their mentality once again.

Frustrations also boiled over in the changing room.

The club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had to be removed from the tunnel at the Santiago Bernabeu after confronting referee Danny Makkelie about an alleged foul on Donnarumma from Benzema in the build-up to Madrid’s equaliser.

It didn’t stop there as the goalkeeper was involved in an altercation post-match, this time with Brazilian forward and teammate, Neymar. According to Marca, the Italian reminded his teammate of his error in the build-up to the second goal.

The comment then reportedly saw tempers flare as the pair came to blows before eventually being separated in the changing rooms by other members of the PSG squad.

PSG’s defeat could also potentially spell the end for Pochettino in charge at the Parc Des Princes.

Despite taking the French side to the top of Ligue 1, the Champions League is the club’s main priority and failure to even get past the last 16 could prove to be a sackable offence.
