Mile Jedinak’s truly heartfelt goodbye to Crystal Palace has only intensfied anger at Alan Pardew

Conan Doherty

And now the poor f**ker has to go and play for Aston Villa.

If Mile Jedinak is sad now, wait until he returns to the Sky Bet Championship. Wait until he’s playing alongside Ashley bloody Westwood.

The Australian midfielder was demoted as Crystal Palace captain in a move that was said to upset the dressing room and it is quite the coup for Roberto Di Matteo to pick up the 32-year-old for Villa.

The Birmingham club’s cleansing process has a long way to go. They’ve won one game of their three second tier league matches to date and still have a lot of… different characters infesting the place.

But it looks like the new owner doesn’t even have time for the young and talented likes of Adama Traore as they continue the clearout.

So Tommy Elphick has come in – new captain. Mile Jedinak has come in – former captain. James Chester, Ross McCormack, proper footballing men who want to work for the cause, have come in.

And Jedinak’s touching farewell to Palace is a mark of the man. It would nearly leave a lump in your throat.

And the backlash is starting for Alan Pardew who has won just two league games this calendar year with the Selhurst Park outfit. He’s let go of a good player, a popular figure and an all-round nice guy.
