Michael Owen makes a complete mess of scheduling a tweet

He doesn't help himself

Michael Owen really doesn’t help himself.

When the BT Sports pundit and commentator works on a match, his performance is scrutinised to an even greater extent than the teams on show.

And by scrutinised, we mean eviscerated by people on social media.

Everton’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Carlisle United in the FA Cup 4th round didn’t generate many talking points, but Owen’s commentary, once again, came in for a lot of criticism.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United also apparently said Carlisle’s pitch could do with a bit more rain.

This is the same pitch at Brunden Park that was under 10 feet of water. Today’s game was just their second back at home since December.

Owen’s day was complete when a tweet he’d scheduled to be sent prior to kick-off, was sent at 3:36pm, after the match had ended.

Can it get any worse for Owen? Tune in next week, we’re sure he’ll find a way.

In the meantime, here he is calling Everton’s John Stones the “best centre-half in the Premier League.”
