They may have been wildest dream moments but Martin O’Neill would still have hoped to be at the Euro 2016 final as a manager.

As it is, the Ireland boss will be panellist of honour on TV3’s panel for the championship finalé.

TV3 have, this afternoon, announced that O’Neill will join the panel for Sunday’s final between Portugal and the winners of Germany and France.

The Derry native joins Neil Lennon and Kevin Kilbane on the punditry panel while former Ireland midfielder Keith Andrews joins Trevor Welch on commentary duty in Saint Denis. TV3’s head of sport, Kieran Holden commented:

“We look forward to hearing Martin’s verdict on the Republic of Ireland’s performance in France this summer, his plans ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers and his analysis on the match itself.”

O’Neill led Ireland to the second round of the tournament after a 1-0 victory over Italy secured them third spot in a tricky group.

O’Neill’s views on the final will be interesting but many Ireland fans will be eager to get his thoughts on Ireland;s World Cup qualifiers, what players he may add to his squad in the coming months and if he ever signed that damned FAI contract.
