They don’t mess about.

Marseille fans have staged a protest outside the club’s training ground, demanding the resignation of club president Jacques Henri Eyraud.

Fans have set fire to a tree outside the ground, hung banners around the town and attempted to force entry into the training ground.

This video, published by Mercat’OM, shows fans attacking the front gates.

And this clip, from La Provence, shows the tree that was set on fire by fans staging the protest at the club’s current situation.

French news outlet RMC are reporting that some fans have successfully broken in but it is not known whether players and coaching staff are present at the training ground ahead of their Ligue 1 match against Rennes this evening.

Marseille are currently sixth in Ligue 1, having lost their last three matches and look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League.

The club’s finances are in disarray as well, with star player Florian Thauvin set to leave on a free at the end of the season.

This story is still developing and more details will follow.
