Marouane Fellaini is now into his FOURTH season at Manchester United.
Did you ever run out of steam in a game of 5-A-Side football and find yourself jogging back and forth but helping no-one? Certainly not helping yourself?
A guy from a yard behind you makes a run. You tell yourself you should go after him…. debate it a while and then jog back in his trail.
He scores.
You were not close enough to him when he did score and there are no video replays so you just turn and jog off in the opposite direction.
Marouane Fellaini has many talents; some are footballing. He seems like a good friend and was like an older brother to precocious Adnan Januzaj.
Look at his performance against Chelsea, though, and you would despair. United had a heap of players deliver putrid outings but still, you’d despair.
He was a nowhere man. A passenger from start to finish. One of his primary jobs – it is (!) – is to win headers in the box but he was beaten at the near-post in the chaotic lead-up to Gary Cahill’s goal. He turned and jogged back to the halfway line.
Jose Mourinho has Michael Carrick, Juan Mata, Morgan Schneiderlin and even Bastian Schweinsteiger at his disposal but he goes for Fellaini – a man with the best seat in the house for some great and good moments in Premier League, European and football.
