Sparky hold grudges.
Many Manchester City fans were sorry to see Mark Hughes go in 2009.
The former Manchester United forward was building a City team that were hard to beat, in the league, and who were in the League Cup semis when he got sacked.
The Welshman managed at QPR and Blackburn before he took up with Stoke City.
This afternoon, at the Britannia Stadium, Hughes served up some cold, cold revenge.
The Potters beat City 2-0 and, in fairness, could have scored more. Marko Arnautovic was the star of the show as he scored a brace and hit the post with another effort.
The best City, who started the day as league leaders, could manage all day was long-range pot-shots.
ESPN reporter Miguel Delaney highlighted some of Hughes’ choicest quotes from his post-match briefing:
Mark Hughes: "We could have made it embarrassing, if we're honest, but we're quite happy with 2-0."

Hughes: "City play 50-60 games a year and, 45 of them, they play teams that concede ground. We thought we'd have a go and see."
