Manchester United’s chief scout identifies next summer signing.

Jim Lawlor is at it again. Manchester United’s chief scout has reported back to the club after coming to the conclusion that they should spring for another striker this summer.

Lawlor, who recommended Javier Hernandez to United in 2009, has identified Hirving Lozano as the next Mexican striker the club should sign.

Lozano, 20, has been playing his club football for Pachua for the last two season and made his senior Mexican debut earlier this year. He has one goal in seven outings for the national team.

Having watched Lozano play over the past year, Lawlor has reportedly advised United to make their move. The striker will represent Mexico in the Olympics, next month, so any transfer may have to wait until the conclusion of that event.

Were Lozano to be snapped up, it would be the fourth player United will have signed up – along with Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – but the spending shows no signs of slowing down.

As for Lozano, his father-in-law claims a deal with United is as good as done. He told Futbol Entre Lineas:

“Yes. It’s all done, just missing some details and after the Olympics, the deal will become official.”

As for Pachua, they are being slightly more coy.

Their vice president, Andre Fassi, told ESPN: “Yes [there have been negotiations]. There is still nothing closed though.”
