Manchester United were the butt of the jokes after showing up late for their Premier League tie with Tottenham on Sunday.
But the club certainly aren’t laughing as it’s emerged that they will be hit with a punishment after postponing kick-off by 30 minutes, pushing their 16:00 kick-off to 16:30.
The lack of warm-up time could well have affected United’s performance on the day as they faltered against Spurs, conceding three goals in the final 20 minutes.
But that heavy defeat isn’t the only penance that United could face as they are set to be punished by the Premier League.

Any club that delays the kick-off of a game by 15 minutes or less will be fined £5,000 but any club who exceeds that delay could see the case dealt with by a formal disciplinary hearing.
A points deduction is unlikely but it’s an added headache that United would have preferred to have gone without as their battle to climb into the top four gets increasingly difficult.
