With Anthony Martial settling in nicely at Old Trafford, Manchester United are clearly growing accustomed to shelling out astronomical fees for young players.
We’ve already brought you rumours of United’s interest in Portuguese youngster Renato Sanches, but it appears the they will have to pay the 18-year-old’s full release clause of €60million to get him.
It has been reported that United made an offer that could rise to €40million during the January transfer window, but Portuguese newspaper Record claims that negotiations have continued with a view to agreeing a summer deal.
The paper claims United have upped their bid to meet Sanches’ €60million buyout, but that includes €20million of add-ons, with Benfica eager to get as much of the fee as possible up front.
It would be another huge outlay for a player who has only made 16 senior appearances for Benfica.
