Manchester United stars and fans feature in yet another promotional advert

SportsJOE

Say what you want about their recent on field performances, but Manchester United still have no trouble when it comes to tying up lucrative sponsorship deals.

The club’s official website currently lists 19 global partners, ranging from Adidas – their kit supplier – to Nissin Food Group – United’s ‘official global noodle partner’.

Just a couple of years ago, United agreed a staggering £47m-a-year deal with Chevrolet, which would see the American car company’s name and logo appear on their shirts.

As is usually the case with such commercial deals, Chevy’s partnership with United has also spawned the odd advert. The latest one was tweeted by the Chevrolet FC Twitter account on New Year’s Eve.

Its opening scene shows the likes of Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford as their names are announced immediately before kick off. The announcer then begins to read a series of unfamiliar names, which turn out to be some of the club’s supporters in different locations around the globe.

Having included the word ‘average’ in the tweet, the anti-Louis van Gaal brigade weren’t going to miss an opportunity.

A nice idea, but not even close to being in the same league as the advert for their official wine partner, Casillero del Diablo, from a few years back.

Cop a load of Wayne Rooney’s acting skills…
