Manchester United launched kits a whole lot differently back in 1982

The video still works

Forget your tridents and dusky voice-overs, this is how you launch some kit.

Manchester United finally confirmed the worst-kept/most-leaked secret in recent history when they launched their home jersey at midnight.

The Red Devils accompanied the launch of their adidas-designed kit with an expensive video that features Daley Blin, Juan Mata and Phil Jones hurling a red trident about and breaking windows [a metaphor for expectations].

The jersey is a neat throwback to the adidas-MUFC union back in the 1980s, and early 90s.

However, when it comes to launches, the Class of 1982 have their number.

Norman Whiteside, who graced the famous, red jersey back in the 80s, retweeted these classic pictures today.

And, just in case you are wondering, Whiteside says he still has the Sharp VCR… and it is still working.
