Manchester United fans will not thank Iker Casillas for his latest comments that could prompt De Gea move

This won't help Louis van Gaal's nerves

Manchester United fans were hoping for Iker Casillas to throw out the odd egotistical outburst before the summer.

A bit of “I’m not happy to play second fiddle,” or “I’ll leave if I don’t start,” would have done the Old Trafford faithful the world of good as it would have complicated Real Madrid’s pursuit of United stopper David de Gea.

But the Spanish legend has done no such thing and seems disturbingly laid back about potentially sitting on the bench next season.

“I wish and hope to win the most number of trophies, hope to fulfil my contract and a commitment is something you sign up for until the end,” he told AS.

“But I have to earn it and train for it. I will fight and fight for the position.

“I’m already at an age and things are seen differently. If I’m not starting I have a commitment to the young players. Why wouldn’t I continue at Madrid if I’m not starting?”

If Casillas is not too bothered about a starting place, then Madrid will be quite happy to openly approach de Gea without the fear of upsetting their club icon, something that will not go down well on the red side of Manchester as their goalkeeper has been their best player all season.
