He might have played just three times in the Premier League, but Reece Oxford is reportedly the target of an £8m (€11m) Manchester United bid.
The holding midfielder, who can also play at centre-back, doesn’t turn 17 until later this month.
But after bursting onto the scene in the opening-day victory at Arsenal, the teenager has found himself on the radar of a number of top clubs – including West Ham’s next league opponents.
The Times reports that Oxford, who has captained England’s under-17s, will be subject of a January offer despite suggestions that he will sign a two-and-a-half year deal with the London club upon his 17th birthday.
Coincidentally, Oxford first appeared on West Ham’s Premier League bench for last season’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United.
He has started twice in the league for Slaven Bilic’s side, as well as coming off the bench in the 3-0 win at Anfield and featuring in the club’s short-lived Europa League run.
