Manchester United drop off injured players (and presents) at hospital

The bulk of Manchester United’s squad would be forgiven for running a mile the moment they clapped eyes on a hospital but, given the festive season that’s in it, they braved the tiled floors and muted wall colours to deliver Christmas presents to ailing children.

Players such as Robin van Persie, Darren Fletcher, Juan Mata and Angel di Maria dropped by Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital this morning and handed out a bounty of treats for young patients, many of whom will not get a chance to go home over the holidays.
