If one goes, the other will follow him out the Westfalenstadion exit door.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has rattled in 22 goals in 20 Borussia Dortmund games this season. More than enough to spark a transfer rumour frenzy.
The 26-year-old Gabon international has been coveted by Europe’s top sides since he admirably filled the goalscoring boots of Bayern Munich-bound Robert Lewandowski.
In the past 18 months, Aubameyang has been heavily linked to Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. Ever since Jurgen Klopp arrived at Anfield, reports linking the striker to Liverpool have sky-rocketed.
This morning, Bild have reported that Dortmund are resigned to losing Aubameyang and have set a £42m [€60m] price on his head.
The German media outlet also claim that Aubameyang has made a ‘transfer pact’ with teammate Marco Reus.
He will not leave the club as long as Reus – another Liverpool target – is there.
Aubameyang is contracted to Dortmund until 2020 while Reus’ deal is until 2019.
As we have seen in the past, though, contracts stand for little when suitcases full of cash are being tossed about.
Reus was reportedly offered to United for €60m in the summer transfer window but Ed Woodward & co. had already identified Anthony Martial as their splurge.
Out of the three Premier League clubs, Arsenal and United could most do with Aubameyang while Liverpool would be happy with either but could only feasibly afford one.
