It wouldn’t be like Real Madrid to crash a party.
Arturo Vidal has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last 12 months or so and it only seemed a matter of who wanted him most, United or Arsenal or even City.
United needed a midfielder, Arsenal can never seem to get enough midfielders and City just don’t want United to sign good players.
But the Juventus man looks like he is off to the Santiago Bernabeu in a bid to break to the Modric, James, Kroos axis in Madrid.
The Telegraph are reporting that Real Madrid are about to sign Vidal on a five-year deal which basically leaves United with just 17 more midfielders left on their reported shortlist.
It seems though that the Old Trafford men are closing in on Morgan Schneiderlin.
The Southampton player was apparently pushing for a move to Liverpool last summer but he is now in Louis van Gaal’s sights and the Manchester Evening News can’t speak highly enough of him, comparing the midfielder to fellow French men Didier Deschamps and Claude Makelele and as the missing piece in a title-winning puzzle.
“When Louis van Gaal identified Morgan Schneiderlin as the midfield anchor capable of turning Manchester United into genuine title contenders, he followed a well-trodden path,” writes James Robson.
“From Didier Deshamps to Paul Pogba, Gallic influence in the middle of the pitch has been a decisive factor for so many trophy-winning teams.”
