Tottenham Hotspur survived two nailbiting VAR decisions against Manchester City in the Champions League.
In one of the most dramatic Champions League games of all time, Manchester City crash out of tournament thanks to an injury-time VAR appeal.
City won 4-3 on the night, going out on away goals after Spurs won the first leg by a single goal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Though this in itself would have been difficult for any City supporter to stomach, what unfolded in the dying seconds made the defeat significantly worse.
Raheem Sterling put the ball in the net, scoring what appeared to be his third and a crucial fifth goal for City. However, with the majority of those in the stadium celebrating, a VAR review concluded that Sergio Aguero had been offside in the buildup. The goal was disallowed.
In that brief moment between Sterling putting the ball into the net and the VAR decision being decided, Manchester City’s official account managed to tweet this:

It has had over 50,000 retweets, and is still live, standing as a monument to that alternate reality where City went through that existed for around 90 seconds or so.
Video of Pep Guardiola celebrating has also been shared online, and is equally heartbreaking.
