Ten Hag appears to be on borrowed time.
Manchester United are ‘lining up’ a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, according to reports.
The Red Devils have struggled so far this season. In the last week, they lost 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, before dropping points away to Porto.
On Sunday, a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa was seen as an improvement, but reports are still linking Ten Hag with an exit from the club.
And now as per Manchester Evening News, Man United are reportedly lining up Thomas Tuchel as a potential replacement for the Dutchman.
Tuchel was previously of interest this summer to the club hierarchy, and he is still currently out of work having left Bayern Munich last summer.
The attraction to Tuchel is that he is immediately attainable, unlike candidates who are, despite being admired, already attached to other clubs.
It’s reported that the Old Traford hierarchy will hold a meeting in London on Tuesday.
Ten Hag expects to hold discussions with the club in the coming days.
“So I don’t have any idea that is different,” Ten Hag said when questioned on his future at the club following the goalless draw at Aston Villa.
“Because they should have told me. We communicate very open, very transparent.
“I speak continuously with them and just after the game I have to do my job, talk with the players, manage the players and answer questions from you. We always talk. Every week, I would say every day we talk, so I expect I will speak with them.”
Man United have made their worst ever start to a Premier League season after seven games, and have won just three of their 11 matches this season.
The club currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.
When asked about Ten Hag’s position on Friday, co-chairman Jim Ratcliffe replied: “I don’t want to answer that question.”
