Major update on Mo Salah’s contract revealed by Egyptian media

A report from Egypt has been released.

Masrawy have provided a fresh update on the contract negotiations between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool.

Enjoying a stellar season in the Premier League, Salah has scored 27 goals and provided 17 assists for Liverpool in just 29 games.

With Arne Slot’s side very likely to win the title from this point, attention has also turned to whether Salah will renew – as his contract is currently up in the summer.

And Masrawy have reported that contract negotiations have become ‘serious’ to renew – with a source speaking exclusively to the publication as below.

“Liverpool management has opened negotiations with Rami Abbas, Mohamed Salah’s agent, to renew the Egyptian star’s contract with Liverpool for the time being.”

He added: “Negotiations between Liverpool and Rami Abbas, Salah’s agent, are much more advanced this time than ever before, and the offer presented is higher than any offer made to the player before.”

The source concluded by saying: “Arnold’s imminent departure from Liverpool will be a major factor in Salah’s contract renewal, following the reduction of the club’s high salaries, allowing the Egyptian star to be given what he desires in his new contract with the Red.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold is reported to be close to an agreement with Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract, but Salah is looking increasingly likely to stay.
