This news will please football fans everywhere, regardless of their allegiance.
The horrific injury suffered by Luke Shaw back in September will be seen as pivotal moment in Manchester United’s season.
The side’s balance was completely upset by the 20 year old’s absence, who had been having an excellent season until the double leg-break against PSV in the Champions League.
However, regardless of what team one supports, the sight of a young, talented footballer suffering such a career threatening injury was hard to watch and football fans everywhere wished the young left-back a speedy recovery.
United manager Louis van Gaal provided some good news in the press conference ahead of today’s game against Swansea City, revealing that Shaw’s rehabilitation is going well.“He’s more or less had a short vacation,” Van Gaal said. “He’s been away for a week and is back to continue with his rehabilitation. He’s doing well but now I cannot be specific because he’s been away for a week.”
When asked if the 20 year old would return this season, Van Gaal said he was progressing well, but it’s too soon to say if he’ll be back in action this year, or at Euro 2016 for England.
“It’s dependable. Everything is going well until now. But he has a severe injury, which takes a long time [to recover from]. He’s doing well until now, but I cannot say whether he’ll be back this season.”
However, the fact Shaw’s rehab is going well should be cause for optimism considering the severity of his injury.
