Louis van Gaal isn’t likely to admit that he’s made a mistake but the stats don’t lie.

Manchester United recorded yet another 0-0 draw at Old Trafford on Saturday and the lack of striking options were blindingly obvious.

With Martial the only recognised striker available to the Dutchman, United never really looked like breaking the deadlock against West Ham.

That’s because James Wilson, who was allowed to go on loan to Brighton in spite of United’s lack of goals, scored for the Seagulls to spark a second half comeback against Charlton.

Javier Hernandez, who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, continued his fantastic goalscoring streak by finding the net for the 11th time in his last 10 games in their defeat at Hertha Berlin.
