Jurgen Klopp hasn’t even overseen a Liverpool game yet and already he’s lost out on some key players.

Danny Ings has been ruled out for the remainder of the season just 24 hours after Joe Gomez suffered the same fate.

Ings sustained a cruciate knee injury during training at Melwood on Wednesday and has been given a best-case timeline of six months to recover.

In all reality, it means that Ings won’t feature for Liverpool again this season and brings to an end the most promising start of any of the Reds’ summer signings.

The former Burnley striker has already scored three goals this season, two in the Premier League and one in the Capital One Cup, which earned Ings his first call-up to the England squad but the 23-year-old now faces a lengthy road to recovery.

Klopp is now seriously struggling for options up front as he looks to kickstart Liverpool’s season with Christian Benteke already ruled out for the German’s first game in charge, a trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Pressure on, Divock!
