Liverpool target hints at move and is already sourcing info on Jurgen Klopp

Bound for Liverpool

Gareth Makim

Piotr Zielinski could be on the move to Anfield this summer.

The young Poland midfielder has been on Liverpool’s radar since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp last autumn, and the 21-year-old has been openly discussing a potential move in an interview with a Polish website translated by the Liverpool Echo.

“Some people say these are just the rumours. I know a little bit more about it,” Zielinski said. “But until now I just try to play as best as I can in Empoli to have a possible chance in June for such a big transfer move.”

The Udinese man has been on loan with another Serie A side, Empoli, this season, where his performances have impressed Klopp to the degree that a bid was almost made in January, and Zielinski admitted that he has been doing his own homework on Liverpool’s German boss in advance of any switch to Merseyside.

Fellow Pole Kuba Błaszczykowski, who played for Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, has been a key source, with Zielinski stating: “I have spoken with Kuba who plays in Fiorentina now about Klopp.

“He told me about his personality, how is Klopp to the players, gave me some tips, but nothing is known yet. I constantly have to play well in Empoli to get the interest from the bigger clubs.”

Zielinski, who was an unused substitute in Poland’s Euro qualifying victory over Ireland last October, has also been scouting Liverpool’s current players and cited Philippe Coutinho as a player he love to play line out alongside.

He said: “Everyone knows Coutinho who is very technically gifted. He can shoot with either foot, no matter if it’s left of right. I think I have something in common with him. Coutinho is fast, he creates the game on the pitch.

“Definitely he is one of the best Liverpool players this season. I really like his style of play, I watch him closely.

“It would be great to play alongside Coutinho. I am sure we could be a good duo on the pitch. We’ll see what will happen.”
