Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has withdrawn from the Italy squad after suffering from a hamstring injury. The injury occurred on Friday and Balotelli is to return to his club, playing no part in the Azzurri’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Croatia on Sunday.
The 24-year-old has endured a tough start to his Anfield career since joining the club from AC Milan for £16 million, registering just two goals in 12 games. Balotelli has also yet to play for Italy since the World Cup and the appointment of new manager Antonio Conte. Fortunately for Liverpool fans, striker Daniel Sturridge looks set to return to the first team from his injury spell.
