John W. Henry has denied rumours that Liverpool are on the brink of a takeover from a Chinese consortium, replying to a tweet from talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams to make it clear that this is not the case.
Abrahams, commonly known as ‘Moose’ on the radio station, tweeted on Tuesday night that his sources had told him that such a deal would be done in time for Christmas – possibly even by the end of this week.
However, Henry replied on Wednesday evening, firmly putting an end to any such talk.
‘Good that your sources will be debunked so soon,’ he tweeted. ‘Usually it takes a long time!’
Let that be an end to that then.
Henry’s tweet came as Jurgen Klopp prepared his side to face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium. Following high-profile criticism (from the Neville brothers and beyond) of summer signing Loris Karius, it was announced that the goalkeeper would be replaced by Simon Mignolet for the match.
