Liverpool fans wildly celebrate Everton agreeing a deal to sign Yannick Bolasie

Transfer domino effect

One of the most entertaining elements of the transfer window is watching fans use transfer-maths to work out that if a certain club buys a certain player for a certain price, then it frees up cash for the selling club to bring in a target of their own.

That’s the situation Liverpool supporters find themselves in right now with the long-discussed Yannick Bolasie to Everton deal.

Crystal Palace initially rejected a bid of £18 million from the Toffees for Bolasie but, according to Sky Sports’ sources, the transfer is very much on after Everton lodged an improved fee that could rise as high as £30 million.

While Reds fans likely don’t care very much about who their Merseyside neighbours sign, they found themselves delighted because if Palace’s bank account receives such a significant cash injection then it makes the London side all the more likely to sign the forward who is largely unwanted at Anfield, Christian Benteke.

Benteke is one of Alan Pardew’s top targets this summer but he saw his attempts to sign the Belgian rebuffed as Liverpool held firm on their £30 million asking price.

And, after double-checking their figures, Reds supporters reckoned Bolasie’s move to Everton will definitely, absolutely, 100% lead to Benteke moving to Selhurst Park.
