Rumours of a Manchester United bid for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller did the rounds on a number of occasions last summer.
With the Angel Di Maria episode fresh in supporters’ minds, the idea of the club throwing ridiculous sums of money at a deal wasn’t so far-fetched. Actually landing the German international was another matter entirely – nobody really believed it would happen.
Ahead of the January transfer window, Muller’s name has again been linked with a move to England.
The only difference is this time Liverpool is his potential next destination.
Seemingly, having a German manager is enough to see Muller linked with a move to Merseyside, with SportBild suggesting the former World Cup Golden Boot winner could finally leave Bayern.
The £70m transfer fee might be a little steep for Jurgen Klopp, though, and we suspect there won’t be too many Liverpool fans taking this one too seriously either.
