Cristiano Ronaldo tops the 2015 goalscoring pile but there’s time for ‘Leo’ yet.
The Real Madrid striker racked up another two goals, this afternoon, as he helped his side to a 3-1 win over Real Sociedad.
It could have been a hat-trick for ‘CR7’ but he blazed a penalty way, way over the bar.
Ronaldo made amends, 20 minutes later, before scoring his second late in the piece.
His two goals took him to 37 league strikes for the calendar year.

36 – Chan Vathanaka (Cambodia)
34 – Alex Teixeira (Ukraine)

It looks almost unbeatable BUT Lionel Messi and his Barcelona side take on Real Betis at the Camp Nou this evening.
If anyone is capable of rocking in five goals in a match it is the mercurial Argentine.
While we are on the subject of top flight goals in 2015, here is how the best of the Premier League and SSE Airtricity League stack up to La Liga’s finest:
Harry Kane (Spurs) – 27 league goals in 2015
Richie Towell (Dundalk*) – 25 league goals in 2015
*Towell is now with Brighton but cannot play in the Championship until January 2016
