If you haven’t heard the bizarre Griffiths drug test accusations, don’t worry. Almost nobody has.
The only claims that Leigh Griffiths failed a drug test came from a couple of Twitter trolls who randomly arrived at that conclusion after the forward was left out of Celtic’s squad for their victory over Hearts on Sunday.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers claimed that Griffiths had missed the game, which the Scottish Premiership champions won 3-1, due to illness.
“Leigh was ill so he’ll get back into training next week I hope,” Rodgers said.
But that was not enough for some rival fans, who took to Twitter to try to kick-start a rumour that Griffiths was ineligible after failing a drugs test.
The entirely baseless accusations passed most by but, being an avid Twitter user, Griffiths couldn’t help but respond and laugh off the claims.

Brilliant to see people accusing me of failing a drugs test 🤣. After a short stay in hospital having a couple scans , safely home, and looking forward to being back training with the team Thursday . 😁

Griffiths is on course for his worst goal return since his debut season at Celtic Park, having scored 13 goals in 35 games so far this term, but remains a firm fan favourite.
The 27-year-old is expected to miss Wednesday’s clash with Kilmarnock but should return to the Celtic squad before the end of the season.
Despite being forced to settle forced to settle for a somewhat bit-part role throughout this campaign, Griffiths is expected to be offered a new long-term contract by Rodgers.
