Sam Byram is hot property right now.

The Leeds midfielder scored his third goal in as many games when he equalised late on for Leeds during Sunday’s Championship clash at Nottingham Forest.

Byram is one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets for January and Jurgen Klopp will have lost no interest in the versatile 22-year-old who continues to shine for Steve Evans’ side.

The Sun report that Liverpool are likely to jump at the chance to sign Byram for a bargain £5 million (€6.8 million) when the transfer window opens.

But Evans wants Byram to reject the Reds’ approaches and sign a new contract at Elland Road.

“Well, he’s a top player. It is why we hope he stays at the football club,” Evans said after Sunday’s draw.

“He pops into pockets when he plays further forward and he’s very difficult to mark.

“The reason he’s so good is because his feet are terrific.

“He’s a gifted boy, a player we want to work with, but we want him to commit to our football club.”
