So it’s finally here…
We found out a few months ago that Umbro were no longer making the Republic of Ireland football jerseys, and that New Balance would be the new designer.
This will be the first time in 23 years that an Ireland team will play in a jersey that isn’t made by Umbro.
Sad, sad times.
Footyheadlines have managed to get a snap of the new shirt, and it must be said, it is quite underwhelming.
We’d seen some fine New Balance efforts in the past, in the Liverpool, Stoke and even the Celtic kit – so maybe our expectations are a little too high.
Without further ado, here it is.
It seems very plain, it seems very simple. We’re not entirely bowled over by it.
The official release of the jersey is said to be taking place later this month.
