‘They are as dangerous as the Super League’
LaLiga president Javier Tebas has branded Paris Saint-Germain an ‘insult to football’ after Kylian Mbappe snubbed Real Madrid in favour of remaining in France.
Mbappe’s contract was due to expire next month and he looked destined to sign for Madrid in the summer – with the Spanish giants in constant contact with the 23-year-old during the season.
However, the World Cup winner is now set to confirm his decision to agree a new three-year deal with the Parisians after Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash with Metz.
Tebas slams ‘insulting’ PSG
The Frenchman’s decision to reject a move to Madrid, and a sign a lucrative contract extension with PSG, has angered LaLiga president Tebas, who accused the French club of being an ‘insult to football’.
“What PSG’s doing by renewing Mbappe with large sum after giving losses of €700m in recent seasons and having more than €600m of salary bill, is an insult to football,” Tebas said.
“They are as dangerous as the Super League.”
The new, reported contract of Kylian Mbappe is staggering, when looked at in black and white.
- €150m signing on bonus for new contract
- €100m a year, AFTER tax
- A say in hiring of sporting director, head coach and player transfers
PSG’s Sporting Director Leonardo is expected to leave the club and be replaced by Luis Campos, who helped assemble the Monaco team at which Mbappe burst onto the scene with and won the Ligue 1 title in 2017.
According to reports, manager Mauricio Pochettino will also depart after another Champions League failure this season.
Mbappe asked PSG to ‘sell Neymar and sign Dembele’
As reported by Spanish journalist Sergio Santos, the Frenchman asked the Parisians to ‘let Neymar go’, with the Ligue 1 champions now working to find a way to sell the Brazilian.
The report adds that Mbappe is keen for PSG to sign Dembele from Catalan giants Barcelona, with the 25-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
