The sooner the match comes the less time it leaves for the rest of the squad to get injured

Too late for a Sheridan call-up?

Since Sunday, we’ve seen James McCarthy, Marc Wilson and Kevin Doyle pick up knocks that have affected their involvement in Ireland’s preparations for their crucial Euro 2016 clash with Scotland.

A decision on James McCarthy has yet to be made but Marc Wilson and, as of yesterday, Kevin Doyle have both had to withdraw from Friday’s clash.

A statement from the FAI yesterday read: “The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that Kevin Doyle has withdrawn from the Irish squad, and will return to his club for treatment on a groin injury.”

Go on Mart! Give Cillian a ring. He’s sound out we promise.
