Kate Abdo has addressed the comments that Jamie Carragher made during CBS’ coverage of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Carragher made what he initially thought would be a tongue-in-cheek joke to presenter Kate Abdo on CBS’ cover of the Champions League last night.
While wearing an Arsenal shirt the former Liverpool defender said: “You are wearing [an Arsenal shirt] next, for the last part you are going to wear it.”
Abdo replied saying: “I am not, I am loyal.” Carragher then joked: “To whom?”
Abdo replied: “Manchester United, thank you very much.”
And then Carragher really put his foot in it when he said: “Not to Malik”.
He then began laughing at his own joke while Thierry Henry and Micah Richards were stunned into silence before Abdo replied: “Why would you even say that?”
The three returned for Wednesday night’s coverage of the Champions League and to open the show, gave an incredible speech to put the talk surrounding Carragher’s comments to bed.
She said: “This group has been together now for three and a half years now. I grew up with a brother, and it feels like I’ve gained three more here. Let me introduce you to the group again.
“Thierry Henry – the golden child. Can do no wrong. Always says the right thing. Sets the example for the rest of us.
“Can he be intimidating? Yes he can. But he is the big brother that we all look up to and aspire to.
“Then there is the middle child. Jamie Carragher. Chip on his shoulder. Capable of saying anything for attention.
“Does he go too far sometimes? Absolutely. Does he apologise? Yes he does. But all of us have that annoying family member that we all love and accept.
“And then there is little bro. Loud but lovable. Micah Richards. Easy to pick, but impossible not to love. And he’s everyone’s favourite.
“Like a good family, we stick together.
“So here we are – another day, another show. Good to be with you all.”

Many were impressed by Abdo’s monologue and had plenty of praise for the broadcaster.
“Kate Abdo – the best broadcaster on TV,” wrote one user.
Another said: “Kate is magnificent. She has handled this so well.
“Well done to the producers that’s about as well as you could have handled that,” commented a third.
