Dear Alexandre Pato’s agent.
When a team is missing over 10 first-team players, and have scored only 22 goals in 20 Premier League games, and still don’t want your player, the deal’s not going to happen.
The Brazilian striker has been linked with a move to Liverpool for the past month or so, but, when asked directly about the rumours at today’s press conference, ahead of the visit of Arsenal on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp completely rubbished the link.
“I could say the truth and say ‘no’,” he said.“We don’t talk about things like this until we sign a contract, but you don’t have to follow the Pato path any longer. That’s my only private advice.”
Pato is currently contracted to Brazilian side Corinthians, but has spent the last season and a half on-loan at rivals Sao Paulo.
It appears his parent club want to remove him from the wage bill, and his agent is targeting a return to European football. The 26 year was something of a prodigy and impressed for a time with AC Milan.
However, it seems safe to say he won’t be lining out for Liverpool anytime soon.
