Jurgen Klopp has some positive news for Liverpool fans reeling after Europa agony

Give this man a transfer window and watch him go

The sun also rises.

Liverpool fans had a lot to take in last night – a stunning rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ rousing all of Basel, pre-game scraps, Daniel Sturridge and his wonder-goal, a second half implosion, another cup final gone a-begging and the prospect of no European football next season.

The 3-1 defeat to Sevilla will take some getting over but one man already planning his next move(s) is Jurgen Klopp.

While not pretending for a moment that his fifth final defeat in a row had any sort of silver lining, Klopp attempted to rally the Reds by painting a rosy picture.

The German looks to have already lined up 22-year-old goalkeeper Loris Karius and Anfield should be a revolving door this summer – out with the bad, in with the hopefully good. Klopp told reporters:

“This team will be a little bit different next year, that’s clear.

“We we will do something with transfers, that’s clear. But, first of all, we need to use the experience because I am sure we will be in a final again and we will have decisive moments again. And if we have decisive moments then we have to react better, all of us.”

Klopp did mention that his team would have extra days to train now that they don’t have Wednesday [Champions League] or Thursday [Europa League] matches in 2016/17.

Attempting to be reflective on a chastening cup final loss, Klopp said there were bigger problems in life but ‘at the moment, it doesn’t feel like that’.

Asked if he felt unlucky to lose so many finals, he responded, “I’ve had a lot of luck in my life as I sit here as manager of Liverpool.”
