“It’s never changed.”
Jurgen Klopp has finally given in and made some comments on Liverpool’s pursuit of Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window.
Klopp has often dismissed any talk of signings in the summer, not wishing to cite players who aren’t currently on the Liverpool roster.
However, even though he went as far as name-checking the England midfielder this time, the German native didn’t seem hopeful that they could sign him.
“There’s nothing to say about it to be honest. If we don’t speak about players we are signing or not signing, why would I talk about it now?
“It’s not about Jude Bellingham. I never understood why we constantly speak about things we theoretically cannot have. You have to realise what you can do. It’s about what you can do, and you work with that.
“It has always been like this. It’s never changed. My answer now is not about Jude Bellingham. I never understand why we theoretically talk about things we can never have, like six players in summer for £100m (each).
“You have to work with what you have. You wouldn’t say as a five-year-old at Christmas you want a Ferrari. Whatever we need and want we try absolutely everything to get it but there are moments when you have to accept it’s not possible and step aside and do different stuff.”
Luis Diaz set to return for Liverpool against Leeds.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom however, as Liverpool fans will finally get to see Luis Diaz back in a red jersey again after suffering a serious injury that resulted in him missing most of this season.
The tricky attacker had been a revelation for the team when he was first signed, hitting the ground running and playing a huge role in their success last year.
“He is 100% ready in training. He is completely ready, now we have to reintegrate. He will be in the squad, unless something happens.”
