Jose Mourinho’s Anthony Taylor comments come back to haunt him as he is hit with FA charge

Jose Mourinho has been charged by the Football Association for comments made ahead of Manchester United's goalless draw with Liverpool.

The United manager said it would be "difficult" for referee Antony Taylor to officiate the game, referring to the referee being from Greater Manchester, and went on to claim the match had put "pressure" on Taylor. Managers are not meant to speak about referees before games, and Mourinho has been charged with improper conduct and bringing the game into disrepute. He has until Monday, October 31 to respond to the charge, And just to remind you, those comments in full:

"I have my view but I understood and I learned a lesson by being so many times by the FA for saying some words about referees. “I think Mr Taylor is a very good referee. “But I think somebody with intention is putting such pressure on him that I feel it will be difficult for him to have a very good performance.”
