The admirable reason Jose Mourinho gave up seat on Manchester United’s preseason flight

Jose Mourinho’s ego is clearly not as large as many make it out to be.

The new Manchester United manager is fast becoming a popular man at Old Trafford and he’s doing his reputation no harm with his decision to fly economy on his side’s flight to China this week.

Mourinho was booked in one of 30 business class seats on board the flight to Shanghai on Tuesday but, according to Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese decided to join his backroom staff back in the economy section.

The 53-year-old clearly wants to get the message across that he is not above any member of his team and that if United are to succeed under the new regime, it will take a team effort to do so.

Manchester United are in China for a preseason tour which will see them take on Borussia Dortmund on Friday before they meet arch-rivals Manchester City in Beijing next Monday.

As admirable as the early team mindset being fostered by Mourinho is, we can’t say that we envisage Zlatan Ibrahimovic giving up his business class seat when he joins up with his new club before the start of the season.
