Jordan Henderson showed his class with James Rodriguez after the penalty shootout

Nice to see

The Colombian star was unable to play the match due to injury

For the first time in their history, England won a penalty shootout at a World Cup. But for every winner, there has to be a loser. Colombia’s star player James Rodriguez was left out of their starting line up and forced to watch the game from the sidelines after he picked up a calf injury in his country’s final group game against Senegal.

After his team lost James was understandably upset. Rodriguez was the best player at the World Cup four years ago, but injury went he had to sit on the sidelines on Tuesday night.

And while the England players celebrated their victory, a post-game moment was caught on camera that encapsulates the spirit of the World Cup, with Jordan Henderson patting the Real Madrid midfielder on the cheek, consoling him for the loss.

It was a nice act of sportsmanship from the Liverpool captain.
