Jon Walters had a great response when asked about Stoke’s Champions League chances

Jon is keeping his feet firmly on terra firma.

God bless Jon Walters and his no-nonsense ways.

The Stoke forward scored his 11th goal of the season, last night, and helped his side to a 3-1 win over Norwich.

Walters’ two goals in two games have got him back into the Potters’ starting line-up at a crucial time of the season. Mark Hughes’ side are just four points off the Champions League spots.

Asked by Sky Sports about a drive for the top four, Walters had a great response.

“Steady on!” he remarked. “We’re just improving from last year and we’ll keep our feet on the ground.

“It’s a funny league this year, there are some funny results thrown up all over the place.

“We’re happy with the three points from Norwich to go into the Arsenal game.”

Walters’ goalscoring record since June 2015

Stoke: 7 goals in 21 games (14 starts)

Ireland: 5 goals in 6 games

Walters will be hoping the lead the Stoke line for Sunday’s visit of Arsenal to the Britannia Stadium. “We’re in good form and hopefully we can get the place rocking on Sunday,” he said.

Another Stoke win may be enough to convince Walters that anything is possible.
