The only uncapped Englishman to start a Champions League final (yes, that one’s still pub quiz material) has joined the League 1 club after leaving Singapore last year.
Bury are waiting on international clearance before their new signing can play, a club statement reveals – something which we imagine doesn’t come up all that frequently for them. He has taken the famous number 38 shirt, previously worn by… actually we’re not sure Bury have even had a number 38 before.
Pennant, who just celebrated his 34th birthday, will join up with such luminaries as Wes Brown’s brother Reece, the Premier League’s youngest ever goalscorer James Vaughan, and former Manchester United goalkeeper* Paul Rachubka.
*Hey, he played three times for them, that counts.
